After researching on the New Balance Website at the "Lifestyle and Retro" shoe styles, i think either the 420 or, even more so, the V74 Sneaker - in the bright colours - fit our campaign idea, target consumer and concept ideas best...

Hey Guys what do we think??????

The use of NB in academic writing

When considering how to use the New Balance logo, the meaning of the initials NB can be considered, with their meaning described below.

That's the basic meaning of N.B.--the abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "nota bene" (literally, "note well"). N.B. still appears in some forms of academic writing as a way of steering readers' attention toward something especially important.

Interview when Opinion Former given the shoes

Had you ever heard of new balance before we asked you to do this project?
Yeh I’ve seen people wearing them a couple of times but never really paid much attention.

What’s your opinion at the moment of New Balance?
Brand that has a lot to do with sports and running etc, don’t really know much else.

What’s your first thought of the shoes?
Well I actually was thinking the other day I wanted a grey pair of shoes , so really pleased with them. They look really confortable as well which is cool.

Do you know anyone who already wears or really likes New Balance?
No I cant think of anyone off top of my head.

What do you think is their main brand appeal?
Um I’m not sure, from what I know comfort and leisure?
What other trainers do you have?
Skateboard sort of shoes mostly as they are so confortable, I recently bought some Supra ones and have a few pairs of Adidas.

How often do you wear them?
Well I used to mainly wear trainers all the time as I used to coach basketball and that’s obviously sports related, but since I started working and got a bit older I started wearing smarter shoes a lot more. But if I’m playing sport, just popping to the local pub or hanging out with friends in a casual environment I still wear trainers, I suppose it depends on the occasion.

How much do u spend per month on shoes/clothes?
Used to buy things quite often every week or so, but recently been trying harder to save and spending a bit more on the things I really want, so I probabaly buy one item a month, but its normally at least £60 ish.

How often do you buy new shoes on average?
Every few months I suppose, cant be too sure as I bought both the last 2 pairs I bought within a month of one another but before that I hadn’t spent money on shoes for about a year, I suppose they last quite a while.

If you eat out, where do you go?
A favorite place is somewhere like Waggamamas, as its quick and really fresh. I like that the food is cooked in front of you so you can see what’s going on. The atmosphere in there is really relaxed too, I actually quite enjoy that things don’t come together. The only problem is the town I live in doesn’t have one or very many places like this so I have to travel a bit, but I don’t mind so much.

If you go out, where do you go?
I used to go to my local pub a lot, during the week and weekends etc but had a bit of a scare with a heart thing and been told I have to slow down, so just recently I’ve started not going out so much and saving money for specific nights out, going to see friends who are at uni in different cities etc. I really like alternative bars and have found one I really like in Southampton, so make weekend trips there every now and then.

Favorite film?
I love anything by Kevin Scorsese

Archetype - Opinion Former

After being asked what archetype I best fit into I had a look online and checked out the definitions and found that I best fit the 'Creator' archetype.
Heres the definition i found on the Brandhouse website.

The Creator

Motto: If you can imagine it, it can be done
Core desire: to create things of enduring value
Goal: to realise a vision
Greatest fear: mediocre vision or execution
Strategy: develop artistic control and skill
Task: to create culture, express own vision
Weakness: perfectionism, bad solutions
Talent: creativity and imagination
The Creator is also known as:
The artist, inventor, innovator, musician, writer or dreamer
The Creator may be right for your brand identity if:
  • it promotes self-expression, gives customers choices and options, helps foster innovation or is artistic in design
  • it is in a creative field like marketing, public relations, the arts, or technological innovation
  • you want to differentiate it from a "do-it-all" brand that leaves little room for the imagination
  • your product has a do-it-yourself aspect that saves money
  • your customer has the time to be creative
  • your organisation has a creative culture
Examples of Creator brands:
Lego, Sony, Swatch, 3M.

Hope this helps!

The Millennial Generation: Up and Coming

Just beginning to enter the workplace, The Millennial Generation was born between 1977 and 1998. The 75 million members of this generation are being raised at the most child-centric time in our history. Perhaps it's because of the showers of attention and high expectations from parents that they display a great deal of self-confidence to the point of appearing cocky. As you might expect, this group is technically literate like no one else. Technology has always been part of their lives, whether it's computers and the Internet or cell phones and text pagers.

Millennials are typically team-oriented, banding together to date and socialize rather than pairing off. They work well in groups, preferring this to individual endeavors. They're good multitaskers, having juggled sports, school, and social interests as children so expect them to work hard. Millennials seem to expect structure in the workplace. They acknowledge and respect positions and titles, and want a relationship with their boss. This doesn't always mesh with Generation X's love of independence and hands-off style.
All Millennials have one thing in common: They are new to the professional workplace. Therefore, they are definitely in need of mentoring, no matter how smart and confident they are. And they'll respond well to the personal attention. Because they appreciate structure and stability, mentoring Millennials should be more formal, with set meetings and a more authoritative attitude on the mentor's part.
Provide lots of challenges but also provide the structure to back it up. This means breaking down goals into steps, as well as offering any necessary resources and information they'll need to meet the challenge. You might consider mentoring Millennials in groups, because they work so well in team situations. That way they can act as each other's resources or peer mentors.
